Dino crisis ps1 vs dc11/30/2023 However you need to unlock them with plugs that are scattered throughout Ibis Island and you have to choose carefully which boxes you want to unlock and what items you should have on your inventory. Each of them has items that help you in terms of ammunition and health. The second one is the emergency boxes of which there are three types: green, red and yellow. This means you have to be really careful and take your distance when dealing with the dinosaurs. This means you lose health even if you use a normal medicine pack and the game forces you to use a hemostat to stop the bleeding. One of them is that the main character Regina will sometimes bleed after a dinosaur attacks you. There are two unique gameplay differences from Resident Evil that I'm a big fan of. The enemies are vicious and you have to be clever on how to approach them as you can find yourself easily low on ammunition and health. The enemies in this game are not slow zombies that stop following you after you leave the room but dinosaurs such as Velociraptors that chase you from room to room. Dino Crisis is of course very similar to Resident Evil but it has a greater focus on puzzles and action. I've now completed the game once and I have to applaud the developers at Capcom for creating a great game that stands on it's own. PAL release of Dino Crisis crucially lacks VGA support but it has the nice Japanese cover. cover but otherwise it's the best version of the game as it supports Dreamcast's VGA mode and the image quality is solid (The FMV sequences display through my Toro VGA box in a pretty low image quality, but I've seen reports that they don't show for some people at all). However, it does have an English voice over so it's not impossible to enjoy without knowledge of Japanese! The American release is more expensive and harder to find but luckily I found a good deal and snatched it right up. Now the Japanese version is much cheaper to buy online but it comes with the usual caveats of any imported Japanese language game. The European/Japanese boxart gave me some huge goosebumps as it reminded me of the American 1998 Godzilla movie!įast forward to today and I have two copies of the game for Dreamcast: the American version and the Japanese version. I stumbled upon Dino Crisis as an accident searching through Capcom's releases on the Dreamcast. I was obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid and Jurassic Park remains as one of my favorite movies ever. One of the games that intrigued me especially was Dino Crisis. I wanted to play games across all regions in order to take advantage of Dreamcast's VGA mode that enables high quality analog video in 60hz. Now years have gone by and last year I reinvigorated my love for the Dreamcast and started collecting for the console as well as upgrading to a region free modded system. The haunting atmosphere bundled with amazing music and story made me a fan for life. I've been a huge fan of Resident Evil series ever since I picked up Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the Dreamcast back in 2007.
